it's about absorbing and experiencing
Traveling in Europe and living in Rome for four months broadened my perspective about the different kinds of
people, ways of life and living.
Some of my favorite moments were sitting on the train, stalled in glimpses of time, catching moments of people's
lives as I passed. I learned to love the rain and its cleansing properties for both the air and the urban surfaces.
Constant exposure to the elements added another dimension to the awareness of my perifery.
In my travels I learned about expectations, wayfinding, and my perception of pain (a story involving my Italian
Emergency room visit). The embedded history of each place, the layers of time, and the sense of space was so
different. Drawing these scenes invited conversations with strangers while simultaneously capturing an
interpretation of a view.
